Shipyard

A one-of-a-kind home on the North Norfolk coast, this property enjoys a sun-drenched garden and a deeply rooted story. The local vernacular—limestone, red brick, flint, and timber—creates a rich tapestry of textures and patterns, grounding the house in its coastal surroundings. Inside, the blend of old and new, bespoke and reclaimed continues the narrative.

With the house so intrinsically connected to its setting, the garden needed to honour its history, materials, and craftsmanship. Before shaping the design, we conducted a sustainability and material study, ensuring that local resources and traditional methods guided our approach.

We sourced from reclamation yards, repurposed timber offcuts from local tree surgeons, and worked with skilled local. The result is a garden that feels as if it has always belonged—thoughtfully designed, deeply sustainable, and a true reflection of its place and past.
