Flint Walled Garden

This large courtyard in Highgate had to incorporate an existing pool, a couple of entertaining spaces and the desire of our clients to grow some fruit trees and soften the whole space. Our scheme also had to somehow link the unusual existing house and two new glass buildings.

The flint walls and limestone paving create a striking yet tactile and warm base. The planting brings movement, shadows , texture, fragrance and life. The courtyard is split in two main areas by the pool plantroom. We clad it with stone and planting and created a walled mini orchard with boardwalk on one side and the pool and main entertaining area on the other, with a more Mediterranean flavour.
