Process

Consultation and design brief

Every project begins with a conversation. We take the time to understand your aspirations, how you want to use your garden, and any practical considerations such as timeline, budget, and planning requirements. From this, we develop a written design brief and fee proposal.

Site analysis and concept

Once a topographical survey is complete, we conduct a detailed site analysis, recording the sense of place and considering views, microclimates, sun path, and emotional connections to the space. This informs the concept design, which includes a plan, mood boards, and visuals We then present this to you and open up the conversation to allow us to refine the design together.

Detailed design

With the concept agreed, we develop a set of construction drawings, ensuring every element—from bespoke features to material choices and furniture—is carefully considered. This enables contractors to accurately cost and build to the right specification.

Planting design

A deep understanding of your site informs a planting design document including plans, schedules and visual plant list.
We follow the ‘right plant, right place’ principle and plans are designed to suit your garden’s unique growing conditions and overall design aesthetic.

Tender

Making the design a reality relies on the right people and good communication.
We have nurtured long-standing relationships with trusted contractors, engineers and craftsmen who share our principles and passion for quality. If you already have someone in mind, we can guide you through the tender process.

Construction monitoring

We attend site for initial setting out, setting out of plants and to advise on progress. This involves liaising with contractors and yourself throughout the building phase to ensure the correct specification and quality of the works. We are on hand to deal with any issues and to respond to changes which may be required.
