Penthouse Living
Due for completion in 2027, this roof terrace forms part of an extensive luxury refurbishment of a penthouse in Notting Hill. The expansive terrace enjoys exceptional 360-degree views and has been designed with entertaining firmly at the top of the client’s brief.
A careful balance was required between the Scandi-lux interiors and the external architecture. Through a collaborative and open-minded design process, we demonstrated the power of layered planting — softening the roofline, bringing vitality to the space, creating contrast, and providing both privacy and shelter. We are delighted that our discerning client has fully embraced planting as a defining feature of the scheme.
While the plans may appear deceptively simple, roof terraces are inherently complex environments requiring specialist expertise at every stage.
Planning permission, building regulations, structural engineering, insulation systems, fire safety, drainage, health and safety, load-bearing capacities, access logistics, wind resistance and long-term weatherproofing all play a critical role in shaping a successful rooftop landscape.
Finally, the planting must be exceptionally resilient — carefully selected to withstand the exposed conditions of a rooftop setting while delivering beauty, structure and year-round interest.
