Woodland Edge

Our clients mid Century house is situated close to local woods and was extensively refurbished by feixandmerlin It is completely wrapped up by the garden and a courtyard so each room has several views onto the garden. The whole inside is looking out and we wanted to celebrate the outward looking interiors by creating an immersive experience, bringing the planting close to the house, as if the garden was coming in. 

We agreed with our clients that their young children would be entertained by a sense of discovery and immersion, encouraging hide and seek, exploration, looking running through tall grasses, building dens, stimulation sense and imaginary play. 

We repurposed a lot of locally fell wood, so the garden feels anchored and a by product of the local woods. As always the dense and layered planting, perfectly right for the place, brings the magic.
